Chicken Tails

These are pictures of the two-week old tails of my Rhode Island Red chicks. I am learning how to see the signs of gender at an early age, and these pictures demonstrate the difference in their tail feathers.

This is a female. Notice the very well defined up-side-down "V" feather formation as opposed to the males' fluffy tufts.

  2. It appears that Beth is absolutly correct.... if we are right.... these four will be two roos (Darcy and Bengley) and two hens (Elizabeth and Jane) How wonderful!
