for the traveling bedste

My dear chicken-loving friend, the queen of Viking-land, has been traveling for a dreadful and suspenseful 48 hours, in which she has been out of arms reach of her beloved sweet chickidoodles. And she has informed me that she will need to hear lots about chickens when she returns (withdrawals i guess), so i am posting some items of interest for her majesty and for all who would like to behold.

This morning, i was up unusually early for a Saturday - and outside planting some lovely items in the soil, when one of the dear triplets began to crow! He's so darling. He sounds like a teenager going through a voice change, but he's definitely crowing!

And then.....to my amazement.....someone older and wiser ....... crowed back!

I couldn't believe it!

But One-eyed Jack is BACK!

There he is struttin' around like he owns the place!

Next week, as soon as Monday, our darling little ones are set to be playing gleefully in their new chicken run. We're hoping that, at that time, One-Eyed Jack will come home, wishing to be near the other friendly chickidoodles.

And for fun and whatnot, here are some more pictures:

I put up this monstrosity to encourage my girls and boys to USE THE ROOST. And it worked!

Here you can see the baby and runt, formerly known as Psycho, standing by the feet of one of the 13 week-old triplets. Big difference. fka Psycho is way behind size-wise, but his spirit makes up for it 100%. Oh, and he might be a girl! Either because he's a girl or because he's a runt, he has developed no redness yet on his comb or wattles. Stay tuned!

I had a hard time getting one in which no one was moving and making the picture blurry. But here is one that is pretty good - and a pretty good spread of chickens. The buffs are finally - sort of almost rid of the purple feathers!
